St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter

“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” — Saint Teresa of Calcutta

It’s in a spirit of love and caring that we feel called, with your help, to serve an at-risk population in the Fort Wayne community – single women experiencing homelessness.

There was no shelter in Fort Wayne exclusively dedicated to serving single women who have nowhere to live, and thus are vulnerable to becoming victims of sex trafficking, violence, and abusive relationships. With the help of our community, we are providing vital emergency housing for these women in need.

Our Core Values

St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter values the dignity of each person as a creation of God, and offers Christian-based services without proselytizing. We prioritize safety, providing a secure environment for our guests to begin their journey to self-sufficiency, while empowering them and involving the community to serve alongside us. Our goal is to be a positive force in the neighborhood and serve our guests and neighbors alike.

Christian

St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter recognizes the dignity of each person as a person created by God, and will provide services grounded in Christian love, rather than a motivation of proselytizing.

Safety

St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter provides the homeless a place where they can feel physically and emotionally safe to begin their journey back to self-sufficiency.

Neighbors

Our goal is to have St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter be an integral part of the neighborhood in which it is located, and bring good not only to the guests of St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter, but to the surrounding neighbors as well.

Community

We allow numerous people the opportunity to experience the joy of serving others by providing groups from churches around the city with opportunities to be involved at St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter.

Empowerment

We teach our homeless friends of their self-worth by empowering them to help lead the community in which they will be living.
